What is the best free website hosting service.?

I would like to upload pdf files and then directly link to them in emails that I send. The files are about 2mb in size. In the emails I send I want to put a link like “www.blah.com/blahblah/RESUME.PDF” so that when someone clicks it, it will open up a Internet Explorer window and acrobat reader and display my PDF in they’re browser window.

http://www.box.net is a great site for this kind of thing. While it isn’t exactly what you wanted – sort of paying for a webhost with a host such as MediaTemple, you won’t have a way to do this. Even so, it would still need to be done via FTP.
Box.net enables you to store these files. The user can then download them.
Also, check out gmail. While you may not want to, it features a very large storage size, meaning that you won’t need to worry about the 2mb emails. As bandwidth is constantly increasing, 2mb isn’t really too large to send via email any more. As long as the email is under 5mb, you should be good. You do mean megaBYTES, right? Not megaBITS?
